Prayers for Sherepita Family

Saints of St. Paul,

God’s grace and peace be with you in these and all your days.

With a heavy heart and eyes of faith turned only to our Heavenly Father for peace, I sadly say that on Sunday evening, Ed Sherepita died.

Please keep Marci, Nevin, Andrew, and their extended family in your constant prayers.

We are indeed blessed at St. Paul to have close ties to one another, through family, friendships, and our unity in the Body of Christ. Because of our closeness with Marci and the boys, all of us are affected by the suddenness of Ed’s death in some way. Many of you worked with Ed as an usher, as recently as Sunday morning. Later this week we will gather around God’s Word, the familiar hymns of the Church, and in prayer and song, comfort one another by looking to the cross and resurrection of Jesus for hope and peace.

The Body of Christ at St. Paul is truly at its best when extending the hand of compassion and aid during such trying times. We have set in motion the teams responsible for the various tasks surrounding Ed’s funeral. As you are able to help and play a part in this work, we are truly thankful to you.

Peace to you, in Christ,

We pray:
Merciful Father, how mysterious are Your judgments and Your will beyond understanding. We are troubled, but not crushed; sometimes in doubt, but never in despair; dejected, but not destroyed. Your grace in Christ is all we need, for Your power is greatest when we are weak. In these dark hours strengthen us by Your Word and Sacrament, and grant us Your abiding presence in the midst of what we cannot understand. Take into Your care Marci, Nevin, Andrew, and all those whose hearts are heavy with sorrow and grief, and lead them to look to You for confidence and strength as they face the future. Sustain them with Your comforting love, and finally receive them and us into glory; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
